This copper 1 Paisa coin, minted in 1833 (Islamic year 1247), represents the British East India Company’s governance in the Bombay Presidency. Weighing 6.97 grams with a diameter of 25 mm, the obverse side showcases the Company’s coat of arms with the mint year below, symbolizing colonial authority.
The reverse side features the coin’s value inscribed as “QUARTER ANNA,” accompanied by a balanced scales design, representing justice and fairness, with the Persian word “Adil” (meaning just) etched between the pans.
